DR MARTIN LUTHER KING. Today marks the 50th anniversary of the tragic death of Dr Martin Luther King Jnr.

His dream of a nation where, as he put it, "my four children will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character", has inspired generations to push for racial equality.

In most nations, including the UK, we still have a way to go, but Dr. King's words and example inspire us still.

His speeches and writings were deeply impacted by the words of the Old Testament prophets and the Christian gospels.

Martin's dream has a special power because it is based in an even higher dream.

Thank you Dr. King. And we say thank you to your family. We will keep striving to do better.
