Meriam Ibrahim Story Not Over Yet

Mal Fletcher on BBC Radio

Meriam Ibrahim is the 27-year-old mother of two who is being held in a Sudanese prison awaiting execution.

Her crime? She refuses to renounce the religious faith she was raised with, as the daughter of a Christian mother. She is also married to a Christian man.

Following international pressure, a government official has said she will be freed. But do the local courts follow the same rules as their government? And what does the story tell us about the rise in persecution worldwide?

Mal Fletcher discusses this in this interview for BBC Radio, with host Will Gompertz and fellow guest, author Katherine Rundell.
